Pounds Off My Shoulders...
This week has been a very difficult week full of stress. This was the last week to submit applications for both California State Universities and Universities of California.
I feel as if I just removed some pounds off my shoulders. My college applications to CSU Fresno, CSU Bakersfield, CSU Monterey Bay, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Merced are submitted. I feel completely accomplished. It is a bit stressful to be filling out your income information, your grades and doing personal statements over and over until they are perfected. It is especially stressful for me because I revised my personal statement at least seven times and had three people re-read it. I really didn’t want to look ignorant unto the universities I applied to. It would have been a bit confusing for them to see a student that claims to be able to meet the requirements for their campus, yet cannot write an essay about themselves. That is why it was worth it to double check.
Last week was a great week, I found out that working hard and doing things before the final deadline actually pays off. I had submitted my CSU applications in the month of October but I had not received any responses. Last week I received and email from both Bakersfield and Fresno stating that I had to create an account on their website so that I would know my admission status. Yesterday, at school I was having trouble opening my Bakersfield email account. Luckily, one of my AVID friends helped me log in and I received a response saying that I was admitted to California State University of Bakersfield. Since Bakersfield is one of my top choices I was extremely happy to be admitted into their school. Later that day, when I went home, I checked my mail box and saw that I received a letter saying that I had also been admitted to California State University of Fresno. It was an amazing day for me. Although Fresno State is my back up right now, I was happy to be accepted.
Since I have already submitted my university applications I have the rest of these two weeks to work on my essays for senior project. I’m really scared that I will not make the deadline but I guess I have to continue working hard and being positive. It will be completely worth it in the end; when I finish my senior project now, rather than in the end of the year. This is great because after December I can dedicate my time to other things I have to get done. For one I have to drop physiology to be able to take government, in order not to look bad unto the
college I decide to go to I cannot have a dropped class. For that reason I picked to have physiology as independent class.
Before I can start working on other things I still have to finish most of my level four assignments for my senior project. I need to complete all seven essays and seven presses. Other than that I also have to complete my last journal assignment and the essay for my visual representation. I have devised a plan I will be writing one essay each day for the next seven days. The rest of the time I will be working on my visual representation essay and presses. It doesn’t matter if I don’t sleep for a couple of days I will finish my project by December 14th.
