College Is Near...
We are at almost half of the month of October. I was supposed to post this Journal last week but I have been very busy. I have had homework for each one of my classes and various EOT’s. I have had to study for them and work on assignments for five of my classes. Something that has taken most of my
homework time has been my CSU application. The application for CSU’s and many scholarships opened on October 1st and I have been researching and investigating on schools since then. So far I have applied to California State University Bakersfield and California State University Monterrey bay. Before visiting CSUMB and CSUSJ last weekend I thought I would love CSUSJ and dislike CSUMB. To my surprise I felt the opposite way. I loved CSUMB and disliked CSUSJ. They say you know when you belong in a campus and I honestly felt that at CSUMB. I fell in love with its campus and proximity to the beach. I also loved the weather which is something I look at when I visit the campus. Since I was not interests in CSUMB, I was not planning on applying there. When we got to the university there was an open house going on for students to see Monterrey Bay and take a look at class rooms, dorms and facilities. The people at CSUMB told me to apply and that it would be for free, therefore, I did. I also asked about the major that I am interested in and I saw that there are a lot of great opportunities in programs and financial aid for me. I also applied to CSUMB’s EOP program as well as the EOP program for Bakersfield State University. The EOP program is a program that provides extra help for universities from money to tutoring and finding a job after college. I am a bit nervous I can’t believe this time has finally come. In AVID we have been talking about how we were going to apply to universities and how we were going to apply to them. I’m nervous about this new episode in my life.
Not feeling busy enough i decided to be an over achiever for once in my life and give myself a shorter deadline. In AP English
class I signed up to turn in and complete my whole senior project by January. I do not know if will be able to meet this deadline and achieve the grade that I want for my project, which is a level 4.
The next task that I must complete this month is another journal and a Job Shadow. I just talked to a teacher at Barlett Middle school in Porterville; she is a special Education teacher. I have always thought about becoming some kind of elementary teacher because I love working with children. For that reason I believe I will love this job because I feel that kids with special needs are beautiful children that deserve to be treated equally if not better since God sent them to the world to show us and teach us how lucky we are. I am really excited to go to my job shadow this Wednesday.
